My cousin Devon is a contender for the worlds greatest prankster. Tonight he sent me this seemingly harmless e-card that plays Dance of The Sugar Plum Fairies as it politely asks you to click on certain items in the picture that bring holiday cheer. "Click on the lamp post" it would say, "Click on the RED present... come on". As I clicked on each Item I braced myself for the inevitable screaming picture of the girl from The Exorcist to pop out, or Santa to come around the corner and moon me. But nothing happened! It was actually harmless.
I confess I was disappointed. Is Devon going soft on me? Or is he even more diabolical? Maybe he's been setting me up my whole life for the freak me out with nothing prank. Probably.
By the way, today's new song of the day is Dance of The Sugar Plum Fairies.
I can't sleep because I have the song Quality Control by Jurassic Five stuck in my head. So it gets to be the song of the day again. Maybe it will leave me alone now.
I don't know why there isn't a better video than this one on you tube for this song. I think it's his best one. Maybe I'll take a crack at it someday. I imagine something in stop motion. Pantomime stage-ish, cotton clouds, horse and buggy? I don't know. But I do like this video.
Someday I'd love to cover this song in a band. I mostly have the whole thing down on gee tar, but the band is hankering for originals these days. Maybe in the Gatsby's.

This is one of the best songs to listen to while riding some sort of two wheeled transportation. I used to ride my scooter fifteen miles to and from The Music School were I used to teach guitar, percussion, recording, and band classes, all on back roads since it wasn't fast enough to go on the free way. Listening to this album, and riding that scooter took me to a very nice place (of mind).
I can't believe no one commented on yesterday's song of the day. That is one of the most beautiful songs ever. I totally learned it to play for my wedding band, and got to perform it twice at the Utah State Hospital-Psychiatric Christmas Dinner. Once for the Forensics dinner, which was a bit scary (those are the murderers and rapists), and then at the administration building. My good buddy Joe LeBaron works there, and asked if I'd play some of there favorites. He is one of the coolest guys this world has to offer.
Another thing about yesterday's post is how old that guy is. He said he was twenty two "or what ever", but he seems much older to me, maybe it's the beard, but my actual theory is that he has a very old soul, maybe thirty or forty lives under his belt.
Finlay lets talk about today's post. I grew up with the Sugar Cubes, though we never actually bought this album. You may recognize this cute little number as Bjork in the musical act Bjork. If you think she looks different in this video, you should see my all time favorite Sugar Cubes song on you tube. And yeah, I know, they're much better to just listen to.
OK, last thing. I have been using You tube a lot lately to do my posts, not because I do a lot of you tube surfing. I don't. But most of my songs for the day are up there in video form, which is great because I don't have to host mp3s. I'm running out of space on my website, where I host the song of the day songs. So I'm working on getting more space, since I hear from some of you that you don't like waiting so long for the video to load, or some of your connections flat won't play you tube stuff. Hopefully soon. Of course that will mean you have to actually leave reader and go to the blog to listen. You tell me.
