I love the way those old scores sound in classic movies. In many cases they would be considered far too busy and distracting for films today, but there is something so, romantic I guess, about those less than hi fi recordings of ribbon-esque theme barring violins.

true. two days ago we were riding in the car with an amazing violinist and we were quizzing him on a mix cd of classical music. So much of it was familiar even to one like me, from movies. And I had just thought to myself, someone needs to do a totally modern and original movie with some amazing classical music behind it, but while set in modern time...and not the big time composers of movie scores...classical music.
